Closed Cell Foam – 3mm

Close cell foam is a great product to use when you need extra stability or structure for your patterns. It can also be used to add extra padding to the back of the backpack and the arm straps to give more comfort during camping or hiking trips and during general use.

Closed Cell Foam will also assist protecting laptops/ electronic devices or other items that need “that little extra” padding. Being a denser foam, it holds its structure well allowing for creativity when designing that special custom-made messenger bag, laptop case or pouch.

This Closed Cell Foam is easy to cut with scissors or a rotary cutter. To reduce bulk in the seams simply trim away from the Seam Allowance or cut to size to suit.

Can be sewn on domestic machine but always do a test run with a scrap piece of fabric first to check your machines capabilities, thread tension and needle requirements.

Comparison:

When comparing Closed Cell Foam to Open Cell Foam, Closed Cell Foam is generally more durable, offers better insulation properties, plus it has better water-resistance.

When comparing Closed Cell Foam to Semi-closed Cell Foam, the Closed Cell Foam has greater density and is more rigid and offers better insulation.
